Thy Word

Just a little poem. :)

  Thy Word

  Thy Word is as a lamp,
  To show my stumbling feet the Way!
  It illumines the path ahead of me,
  Makes it bright as day.

  Thy Word is also as a map,
  To guide the traveler, sojourned and weary.
  It shows which path he ought to take,
  If he would dwell in Glory.

  Thy Word is ever a trusty sword
  To fight in the battles of life!
  It is quick, and it cuts to the marrow;
  It is sure in the hottest strife.

  Thy Word is as a Guidebook sure,
  That will guide 'till life's closing scene.
  May my name be in Thy Book of Life,
  And my life- in Thee- all it should have been.

Bowing Walls and Tottering Fences

Psalm 62:3     I know it may sound depressing, but what are bowing walls and tottering fences like? They are weak. According to this verse we can be like that, too. But, what  makes us weak? Because they "imagine mischief against a man". That word mischief also means evil or iniquity . Any time we think anything bad about others, it makes us weaker. It has been said that speaking (or even thinking) evil about others does not make them, but ourselves, more evil. May we each pray, "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." Psalm 19:14.

How Far?

How far would you go to find the Messiah? If you knew He was on earth would you travel any distance to give Him your homage? Would any distance any obstacle seem small? Would any sacrifice be small enough for the King of kings? Or what if the ones to announce His coming to you were mere shepherds? Would your pride be hurt because you weren't the one who was chosen to hail His advent? We often hear how the wise men traveled a great distance to find Jesus- and when they found Him, they discovered a mere baby in the care of poor peasants! No mighty potentates were in attendance; no great men were before them worshipping the tiny King. But did they turn away? Did they reject Him because He didn't meet their expectations? No! They had read the Scriptures, they had the witness of the Holy Spirit, they had seen His star. Yes, He was the One they had come so far to find! GOD is Love

"The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee." Jeremiah 31:3  " 'GOD is love' is written upon every opening bud, upon every spire of springing grass. The lovely birds making the air vocal with their happy songs, the delicately tinted flowers in their perfection perfuming the air, the lofty trees of the forest with their rich foliage of living green- all testify to the tender, fatherly care of our GOD and to His desire to make His children happy."  - Steps to Christ, "GOD'S Love for Man"; pgs. 6,7.  "GOD is love". I have heard it often, as well as the fact that nature greatly testifies to it. But, I must admit I never fully understood it, (and still do not) until recently.
